Let us go on.. Run the race with Joy

It was interesting I was in a really great Church, the spirit of God was moving there mightily and yet God told me to  talk to or to fellowship with the pastors, later I had found out that they were into adultery, stealing, slandering, etc..  That is discernment

WALKING IN SIN, OR WHAT BRINGS OUT THE DARK SIDE IN US..

WE ALL DO HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR DOING BOTH GOOD AND EVIL DWELLING IN US. SO WHICH ONE MOTIVATES, CONTROLS US DAILY?

WALK IN THE SPRIT OF GOD AND YOU WILL NOT WALK IN THE LUST OF THE FLESH.. (Gal 5:16 KJV) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh (Prov 14:12 KJV)  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.  (John 6:63 KJV)  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

(Mat 21:42 KJV)  Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes.

EACH PERSON CAN BE A DR JEKYLL OR A MR HYDE CONCURRENTLY, A GOOD PERSON AT ONE TIME AND A BAD PERSON NEXT TOO IT DEPENDS UPON WHAT PART YOU ALLOW TO DOMINATE, INFLUENCE, CONTROL YOU. We can walk humbly or walk in a false pride… AND THE RESULTS WILL DIFFER, VARY SIGNIFICANTLY TOO.

(Psa 51:17 KJV) The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

(Isa 66:1 KJV) Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? 2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. 3 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. SOME OF THE THINGS THAT SERIOUSLY BRINGS OUT THE DARK SIDE IN YOU IN YOU FALSE PRIDE, SELF CENTEREDNESS AND ARROGANCE.. A CONTROLLING SPIRIT

The sin of pride is the sin of sins. The sin of pride is  distinguished as the foremost among the seven “deadly sins,” each of the seven equally as deadly ((Prov 6:16 KJV)  These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18   An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19  A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
 
Pride is excessive belief in one’s own abilities, that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise.
Sinful pride is an inordinate love of the self: super-confidence and distorted self-esteem that ignores one’s shortcomings.

 It was this sin, we’re told IN THE BIBLE, which transformed Lucifer, an anointed cherub of God, the very “seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty,”  NEXT into Satan, the devil, the father of lies, the one for whom Hell itself was created. St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430 A.D.) wrote, “‘Pride is the commencement of all sin. The sin of pride is a preoccupation with self. The great Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar, suffered from the sin of pride and lost his kingdom for it.   “Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?”  Daniel 4:30

One way to determine whether or not you are preoccupied with yourself is to evaluate your motives, acts  TO SEE IF THEY ARE MOSTLY SELF CENTERED OR NOT. AN EVENT IN THE LIFE OF MIRIAM MOSES’ ELDER SISTER TENDS TO ILLUSTRATE THIS NOW.. incidentally all of God’s prophets still remain  sinners.. Except for Jesus Christ there never was a perfect man, a perfect prophet  who DID not sin, does not sin.. God uses sinners for prophets.. Moses himself sinned and missed the promised land due to his sin..

(1 John 1:9 KJV)  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

(1 John 2:1 KJV)  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

(1 John 2:2 KJV)  And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

(1 John 2:3 KJV)  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

(1 John 2:4 KJV)  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

(1 John 2:5 KJV)  But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

(Num 20:7 KJV) And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. 9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. 10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? 11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. 12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

Miriam BECOMES the first woman in the Bible to be called a prophet. She lived around 1520-1420 B.C. and was the older sister of Moses and Aaron. Her name means either “MER-eh-um” (loved by God ) or “meer yawm’” (rebellion). Ironic how she could manifest both tributes now too. Miriam is first mentioned directly by name in the Bible in Exodus 15, but tradition holds that she is also the sister of Moses mentioned in Exodus 2, who had watched over baby Moses as he floated in the Nile.

(Exo 15:20 KJV) And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. 21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

In Exodus 15.20-21, we see Miriam and the women leading the Israelites in praise to God with dancing, tambourine music and singing. This celebration followed Moses’ Song to God . Miriam did not just lead a group of women in worship; Miriam led the women in leading the whole nation in worship. She is the first “worship leader” we find in scripture.

We know that Miriam was also like many others an important figure in Israel, but we still next do have very few details about her from scripture. While she is described as a prophet, we never hear or Read about any of any of her prophecies. Most people today would describe Moses, and possibly Aaron, as the SOLE main leaders God had chosen to lead His Jewish people out of slavery in Egypt. BUT God now includes Miriam in this list as well. Micah prophecies in Micah 6.4: For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and redeemed you from the house of slavery; and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

 And here too we see that God has no issue lifting up women leaders, spiritual leaders, even in the presence of the God selected male leadership. We also see the chronicler list Miriam in his genealogy in (1 Chr 6:3 KJV) And the children of Amram; Aaron, and Moses, and Miriam. The sons also of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

It is quite unusual to include women in a genealogy, which further confirms, proclaims Miriam’s prominence.

BUT THE BIBLE STILL ALSO SAYS Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.  

(Song 8:6 KJV)  Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

(1 Cor 13:4 KJV)  Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,  5   Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

(1 Cor 13:2 KJV)  And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

(Num 12:1 KJV) And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. 3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) 4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. 5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. 6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. 7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. 8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? 9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. 10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.11 And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.12 Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother’s womb.13 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.14 And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. 15 And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again.

Deuteronomy 24:8, 9: “Take care, in a case of leprous disease, to be very careful to do according to all that the Levitical priests shall direct you. As I commanded them, so you shall be careful to do. 9 Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam on the way as you came out of Egypt.

Now why did God punish Miriam more severely for her rebellion over Aaron. was it cause she was a women? Numbers 12:1 Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman.

Notice that Miriam’s name is given first, before Aaron’s name. Also, the verb “spoke against ” is in the feminine form and it’s singular. Miriam was the primary issue here. She was the chief instigator and leader of this rebellion against Moses’ authority.

(Exo 18:17 KJV) And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. 19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: 20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt show them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. 21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: 22 And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. 23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. 24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.

God next confirms the suggestion to Moses.

Numbers 11:16 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Gather for me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them, and bring them to the tent of meeting, and let them take their stand there with you.

In Numbers 12 we next do see Miriam confronting Moses about his wife. The Midianites sold Joseph into slavery in Egypt (Genesis 37.36). Later, we see God commanding His people to kill the Midianites. Yet, Moses’ wife, Zipporah, is a Midianite. Cush was part of Midia. They were idol worshipers and Zipporah’s father was a priest of this pagan religion (Exodus 2.16). So it may seem that Miriam may besomewhat justified in confronting Moses about his marriage, but there a couple of other issues to deal with here.

First, Moses’ wife Zipporah was black. So, we have, perhaps, the first interracial marriage protest. Cush is a region south of Ethiopia and people that come from there are known for being black-skinned. Jeremiah 13.23 says: Can the Ethiopian [same Hebrew word translated Cushite in Numbers 21.1] change his skin or the leopard his spots?

We also see that Miriam is not happy with her subservient leadership role while Moses and others are  the top dogs. While Moses is humble, Miriam and Aaron are acting in a prideful and arrogant manner. Consider the text of Numbers 12:1-3: While they were at Hazeroth, Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had indeed married a Cushite woman); and they said, ‘Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Has he not spoken through us also?’ And the Lord heard it. Now the man Moses was very humble, more so than anyone else on the face of the earth. It was jealousy on Miriam’s part pure and simple, likley jealousy of the influence of Moses in-laws, while, and at the same time, she and Aaron were not consulted about the appointment of 70 elders. Likley she even began to feel that their position and authority had been ignored. Neglected! “Do we not get ourselves in trouble whenever we feel that some position or place of ministry is ours by right? isn’t that what got the whole problem with sin started in the first place? The sin of pride?”

In response to Miriam’s criticism, God does not get angry at Moses; or Aaron,  he gets angry at Miriam. The criticism has to do with Moses’ marriage and Moses’ authority.  The most explicit statement relates to the marriage AND MIRIAM’S SELF CENTEREDNESS .The story ends when Aaron pleads for Moses’ forgiveness and Moses prays to God for his sister. After a week, Miriam is restored (Numbers 12.12-15). Miriam, like her two brothers, also dies in the desert before the Israelites reach the Promised Land (Numbers 20.1).

Miriam. In one event , she is leading all of Israel in worship. In another, she is acting with pride (and possibly racism) and God temporarily next rebukes her for it. But God still loves her, keeps her in a place of leadership too.

Pride is not only sinful but it is a deadly disease, sin for it kills your personal relationship with God.. Being now overly proud of any object is a sin and that includes yourself, your status, your achievements, your wealth, your job, your home, your community, your church, your denomination, your family, wife, children included, your car, bike or anything else for that matter too

 

Proverbs 3:12 tells us that “the LORD reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights. ”

Hebrews 12:6 “For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son [or daughter] whom he receives.

Most of us are not equipped to handle the major difficulties, problems in life we all tend to have sooner or later initially, we seem to need helpful positive insight to deal with them.
